Originally established in Manchester in 1862, J. Sykes & Sons has progressed towards becoming one of the UK’s leading independent fresh and frozen seafood suppliers. We have developed our expertise in supplying mixed-pallet to multiple-pallet quantities of frozen seafood to foodservice groups, wholesalers, retailers, and processors.
Emphasis on customer service and high-quality products
The knowledge we have acquired over the years has helped us put emphasis on customer service and the high quality of our products. The quality is reflected in our three brands, Arctic Royal, Clear Seas and Glenmyr.
BRC AA grade Certified
All our facilities have a minimum of BRC AA grade and we strictly adhere to IUU Fish EU regulations and can proudly display the blue MSC eco-label. This progress over the last 80 years, from the days of deliveries by horse and cart, is phenomenal, yet the principles of speed and efficiency have not changed much (we had some very fast horses!).
Our State-of-the-art Facilities
A major strength to the Sykes business is our UK-based state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.
This allows us to not only leverage buying raw materials at seasonally the right times, but process to UK technical standards, with a range of product and pack styles for our customer base.
Having such control means we are never out of stock and long lead times are a thing of the past, we control the supply chain and hold stock to cover all seasonal peaks and troughs.
